Smoky Mountain Internet Services, Inc. is dedicated to providing you with the service you demand from your Internet Service Provider. If you are having a problem with any part of your Internet services, we will make every effort to help you fix the problem.


1. In Outlook Express, click on "Tools" then "Accounts".


2. Now highlight your SMNET account and click on "Properties". On this screen you can change the name of the mail account ("Johns Mail" instead of mail.smnet.net). Also, make sure your email address is correct on this screen. If you have a different "Reply" address, put it here. Now click on the "Servers" tab.

3. This is the ONLY screen that must have the correct information in order for your e-mail to work properly.

  • The "Incoming" mail server must be mail.smnet.net.
  • The "Outgoing" mail server must be mail.smnet.net.
  • The account name MUST be your e-mail name. If your e-mail address is johnsmith@smnet.net, then the account name is johnsmith.
  • The password is your account password or the password you picked when you filled out the online form.
  • "Logon using Secure Password Authentication" and "My server requires authentication" must NOT be checked.
